Lost and Found

All arctic foxes store food. Arctic foxes eat leftovers from polar bears food. When spring arrives, many animals settle in one place to raise a family. Arctic foxes eat small mammals, birds, and bird eggs. Another name for the arctic fox is Alopex Lagopus. Arctic foxes have white coats for most of the year.

One snowy day, a baby arctic fox was in his den with his parents. His parents told him to stay in the den while they went to find food. The fox started to play in the den but he wanted to get more room. So he got out of the den and started to walk away from the den.

He played in the cold snow, but then a polar bear jumped out. It raised its big arm and was about to kill him. Then a big fox jumped and told him to run off.

The baby fox ran and ran till he was out of breath. He looked around, but all he could see was fog. He started to walk forward. He heard something behind him. He turned around. Nothing. He kept walking and then he heard that sound again. He walked faster.

He turned around once more and there, standing in the snow, was the fox that saved him. He had a big scratch on his tummy. The baby fox told him he was lost. The fox told him he left foot prints. They walked and walked till they were where they saw the polar bear. Then they walked to the den.

His parents had brought a whole seal! Baby fox asked where they got it. Mom said they got it next to a glacier while the polar bear was distracted.

“I distracted the polar bear,” said the fox that saved baby fox. Baby fox invited him to dinner. His answer was yes. They all had a delicious dinner. YUMMY!
