The Wolf's Journey
by P. T.
I was born on a snowy day blind and deaf. Seven months later, I was full grown. That's when I started my journey to be the lead wolf. A year later... I decided to challenge Akayla and find my place in the pack. We fought left, then right. I bit him, he bit me. Finally I showed my belly. I lost to Akayla. I did what wolves usually do--run away. I wandered far away, through the woods and over the fields to the water's edge. There I stayed, hunting the Arctic fox. I was there for for almost 2 years. Now I am 3 years old. I am trying to find my pack. When I started across the fields I saw caribou and poachers. They chased me over a cliff. I landed by the woods. I started running. I got to a river and on the other side was my pack. Akayla lunged, we fought left, then right, finally he showed his white belly. I had won. I took my pack home. To celebrate my becoming Akayla, we ate caribou.
