I want to highlight the importance of consistent regular attendance. Attending school regularly helps students build a strong ethic, teaches responsibility, supports overall learning, and helps students build and maintain friendships. I cannot stress enough the importance of attending school every day. I know when I miss a day due to meetings or illness, it takes me a little while to get back into the swing of things. Missing school has the same effect on students. Our families generally do a great job of attending school, although I have noticed a slight decline in our attendance rate over the last few years. Our goal is to have a 95% attendance rate throughout the year. We currently have an attendance rate of 95.8%, which is down from 96.3% at this same time last year.

To support families, I will be sending emails to families whose students have missed more than 5 days of school this year. I want families to know that this is to support you. There are a variety of reasons why students miss school (most of the time illness and family reasons); however, sometimes students struggle to attend because they are not comfortable at school. I want to make sure we can pinpoint reasons and ensure all students are successful.
