Thank you to all who have already signed up to volunteer with paper cutting and helping at arrival or recess. In addition, this week, we have 4 new opportunities to get involved at Steele! We have so many active families who will be leaving Steele at the end of the year as their 5th graders graduate. We need a whole new crew of volunteers to keep our Stallion Spirit going! Join us!
- Steele Stallion Press Co-Editor: The co-editor of the Press uses Constant Contact to compile weekly news items in the Friday morning newsletter and send “Extras” as needed. The co-editors trade off each month through the year. This volunteer role requires grammar and editing skills and access to a computer and internet. Approximate time commitment is 2-3 hours per week during the assigned months. Training in Constant Contact can be provided. Email current co-editors, Sarah Almy and Posha Zubair for more information.
- S.C.A.T. (Steele Community Action Team) Co-Chair Position: Do you enjoy service and giving back? Do you look at the world around us in hopes for change and want to inspire the next generation? Leading S.C.A.T. is a special role at Steele that allows you to see how passionate and service minded our Steele stallions really are! This leadership role is an opportunity to be hands-on with kids and inspire them to make a difference in the world around them. As a S.C.A.T. co-chair you’re expected to host monthly meetings focusing on a kid appropriate volunteer opportunity. You will coordinate speakers, activities and facilitate discussion among the students. Majority of systems and curriculum are in place with the flexibility to adjust. Sign up on Membership Toolkit.
- Garden Committee would Love your Help! There are a number of one-off and ongoing projects in the Steele Garden. Get outside and enjoy getting dirty at a distance! We are currently planning next season’s planting, Kindergartner Seedling Program, and the after school Kid’s Farmer’s Market as well as the Spring Seedling Sale. - The Cookbook Committee Needs help making and executing a plan for Spring Book Sales. We plan to have two efforts between now and the end of school, and would like to coordinate with kids and parents to reach the school community, as well as the broader Wash Park Neighborhood. Also, get in on Vol. 2 planning! Sign up here to get on the mailing list for future planning and to volunteer your talents.
