From the Health Office: Head Lice

Recently, we have been experiencing a moderate number of reported cases of head lice at Steele. With Thanksgiving break ahead and to prevent further spread, we are encouraging all families to check your children at home before coming back to school. Treat as necessary with medicated shampoo, carefully following the directions on the label and follow supplemental measure guidelines provided in the link below. Please reportcases of head lice to the health office so preventative measures can be taken at school. Encourage your child to not share personal items such as brushes, hats, headbands, etc.

Lice infestation represents a nuisance rather than a health hazard. Remember–children do not always have symptoms of itchiness with head lice. The BEST way to prevent a lice outbreak in school is to check your child at home regularly! Please call the nurse with questions.

Andrea Dite, BSN RN. 720-424-3724.
