From the Principal

Dear Steele Families,

This year, as a result of your generous support, our PTA was able to fund the purchase of 90 Chromebook computers for three of our 4/5 multiage classrooms. This month, using district Bond funds allocated specifically for technology, we purchased Chromebooks for our 3rd grade classrooms. This means that all of our intermediate (3-4-5) classrooms will have a computer for every student! As I spend time in classrooms, I see our students using their computers routinely to do research, read digital articles and books, write essays, create presentations, and complete and submit classwork via Google Classroom. The computer is as necessary for students today as the pencil and trapper keeper were for my 4th and 5th grade students in the 1990s! We are fortunate to be able to provide one to one computer access to our students in grades 3, 4 and 5. Thank you!

The Holiday Season is a wonderful time to spend with family playing games, watching movies, skiing, eating delicious treats and on and on! This is also a time when we see learning loss for students due to being out of school for an extended period of time. I encourage you to find time each day for your children to read for 20-30 minutes, play math games and explore outside. Students can strengthen their writing skills by keeping a Winter Break Journal. These are relatively easy ways to prevent learning loss and keep their minds sharp.

Doug and I have a long list of things we want to do over the Winter Break. I’m not sure he has noticed that I added a few naps to our list!

Wishing you a wonderful Holiday Season and a fun-filled Winter Break!
