From the Principal

Dear Steele Families,

Our Steele Code Leaders are expanding their leadership throughout our school in many ways. For example, Mrs. Maletz is working with a team of Steele Code Leaders to provide technology support for both staff and students. This team is known as the Steele Tech Ninjas. Staff are able to request support from our Tech Ninjas for a variety reasons. For example, during iStation testing, the Tech Ninjas helped to get all of the devices set up for testing. They also cleared old photos from the iPads to create more space for this year’s photos and videos. Labeling our new chromebooks was another task for our Tech Ninjas. In addition to our Tech Ninjas, we have Steele Code Leaders helping with announcements, raising and lowering our flags, organizing books in our library, planning and leading our Community Circles, and assisting with our Composting Program in the cafeteria. This week we will begin training our Steele Ambassadors. This group of student leaders will guide potential Steele families and visitors on school tours throughout the school year. Over the last ten years, I have heard some version of this quote many times: We (adults) should not do the things kids are capable of doing themselves. As our students pledge every day: We will be respectful of ourselves, our school and our community. We will be responsible for our actions, our words and our learning.

No Dogs on School Grounds
We have a lot of puppies and dogs on our school grounds before and after school. Unfortunately, we have had to clean up dog waste just about every day so our students can play on our playground. This poses a serious health risk to our students and staff. Please abide by our expectation of no dogs on school grounds. Thank you for working in partnership with us to keep our students safe and healthy.

October 8-12 is Classified Employee Week! Who are our Classified employees? Our Classified employees include our awesome office staff Melissa and Yolanda, our facilities crew Qendrim and Cesar, our food service crew, our bus drivers, our Librarian Ms. Patty, our Health Assistant Ms. Christy, and all of our amazing Second Educators. Please help us express sincere gratitude next week our amazing Classified staff because we would not be able to do all the wonderful things we do for our students, families and community without them!

Sincerely,

Cindy
