The Kids of Steele Club helps interested students in becoming active members to help our community. Club members will participate with service projects in a variety of areas as well as attend bi-monthly meetings. Their commitment can teach them how to help others as well as making a difference in the world.
The Club members will gain an understanding of social and environmental needs through three main steps. The first step will be to learn about the issue at hand via guest speakers and open discussion at the first monthly club meeting. The second step will be to make a difference via field trip or performing a charitable deed. The last step will be to share the experiences and teach others what was learned. This will be accomplished by open discussion at the second monthly meeting and where a board will be created to display for all students at the school.
Meetings will be held the first and third Wednesday of every month from 3pm to 4pm. Those students in 2nd through 5th grade are welcome to attend and those in Kindergarten through 1st grade may attend accompanied by an adult. The first meeting will focus on teaching about the monthly activity. The second meeting will allow for sharing of the experience as well as creating the board to be displayed in the cafeteria hallway. Between the first and third meetings will be the volunteer opportunity. There will be five main charitable activities done with the club and four months of DIY charitable activities.
The club will be advertised in the after school activities list. There will be no cost to join. There will be a section in the first Steele Stallion email of the month to explain the focus for the month as well as the volunteer opportunity.
