Dear Steele families,
Thank you to everyone who was able to join our community Q&A last night. If you missed our conversation you can catch up using the links below. I’ve attached the recorded Zoom session, the presentation, and links to the Q&As. As I mentioned in last night’s meeting, information is changing very quickly. As if to prove my point, Superintendent Susana Cordova has just communicated some changes to our return to school. You can read her letter here. Students will now learn remotely until at least October 16th. There will also be more flexibility for families when choosing between virtual learning and in person learning. Here are some things we know so far:
- DPS will start the school year in fully remote learning starting August 24 based on the latest health guidance from Denver Health experts.
- We will stay in Remote Learning through the first quarter through October 16.
- We will monitor the health data to plan for a gradual return to in-person instruction.
- Families will continue to have the option for 100% Virtual Program. During registration/AFU, families will still have the option to choose a virtual program for the entire fall semester. This enrollment through registration will be non-binding and families will have an opportunity to change their decision prior to the start of in-person school.
As I learn more about these changes I will continue to send updates. The week of August 10th I will send a letter with our detailed plans for return.
