This week we initiated a leadership opportunity for 4th and 5th graders. If you walk or drive to school, I’m sure you have noticed our Safety Patrol in their neon yellow and orange vests along Marion Parkway and on the playground. All 4th and 5th graders had the opportunity to apply for this leadership role. Our School Leadership Team (SLT) carefully considered all applications and selected 13 students to serve as the first members of our Steele Safety Patrol. These students are taking their responsibility of keeping students safe very seriously. They are greeting students and parents in the Kiss and Drop lane, welcoming bus riders and walkers to school, and monitoring the playground areas to make sure everyone is safe. When the 8:10 AM bell rings, our Safety Patrol hold the doors, flash everyone a huge smile, and share words of encouragement like, “Have a GREAT day!” I’m so happy to have a team of 4th and 5th graders helping me welcome everyone to school each morning!
There will be more student leadership opportunities coming soon!
