Marti’s Letter of Introduction

Dear Steele Elementary Community,

It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the new principal of Steele Elementary School. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a strong reputation for excellence and community. Through the interactions with the staff, students and families, I can already tell that it is a unique and special place that I am delighted to join.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I have worked in education for the last 18 years, 10 as an elementary school teacher, three as a coach in Denver Public Schools, and most recently as an assistant principal. My teaching career began in 2001 in Brooklyn, NY where I taught 5th then 3rd grade in a Title I school. In 2006 I moved to Colorado and spent the next five years teaching 4th grade in Jefferson County. I joined DPS as an observer and coach in 2011 after the birth of my first daughter. I started my leadership journey as a Ritchie Intern at McMeen Elementary in 2014 and have served McMeen as the assistant principal since 2015.

I am originally from the east coast, having spent most of my childhood in New Jersey. I moved to the beautiful state of Colorado in 2006 with my husband, Damian. We are the very proud parents of two girls, Matilda (8), and Beatrice (5). My daughters continually inspire me to be a better person, mother and role model…i.e. a good leader. We live in nearby Platt Park, and my kids attend Asbury Elementary. When I think of what I want for their school experience, it’s that they are loved and welcomed each day, feel safe to try new things, are challenged, and most importantly, that they are excited to learn. These are the same experiences I hope to cultivate at Steele.
I plan to work alongside the Steele staff to continue the legacy of success established by building strong relationships with students, families, staff and community partners. As a team, we will focus on enhancing our instructional programming and fostering a united and safe environment, while providing a robust learning climate that will prepare all of our students for post-secondary opportunities. My vision is to enhance an already strong Steele community school by fostering an environment where every child can succeed and where students, teachers and families alike feel the joy and power of deep learning.

As your new principal, I am eager to get to know each of you, and I hope that you are equally excited to meet me! I will be working with Ms. Kapeller to schedule times to meet students, staff, families, and our community. Please keep a look out for further communication regarding these opportunities for us to chat and learn more about each other. I’m thrilled to be the new principal at Steele Elementary!

In partnership,

Marti Rosenberg
