Steele has been awarded the Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award for this year. We are one of 16 DPS elementary schools to receive this honor. The CDE website states that, “The Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Awards are given to schools that demonstrate excellent student growth. On the school performance framework that is used by the state to evaluate schools, these schools “exceed” expectations on the indicator related to longitudinal academic growth over three years.” This is an especially rewarding honor because it demonstrates that our students have demonstrated growth on a consistent basis over the last three years.
