Scheduled for the 2009-2010 School Year
C.E.L.L. Science for Kindergarten C.E.L.L. is an after school enrichment program sponsored by a charitable Colorado non-profit organization in partnership with DPS. Mr. Lauren Wilson, a science educator, periodically offers Steele School students an opportunity to participate in a five-week session of C.E.L.L. activities. C.E.L.L. hands on lab activities cover such things as Chemistry, Magnetism, Electricity and more. Call 303-752-3300 for more information. Registration form. Colorado Ski Academy
Join
other Steele students for discounted and fully supervised ski and
snowboard trips leaving from the neighborhood. The program includes
chaperoned transportation, lift ticket, full-day lesson with a resort
instructor, and lunch. Parents and siblings are welcome, too.

Drama Now starring: Steele After School Drama Club! We will work on character development, theater games, stage combat and set design so we can create a play to be presented after the last class. Registration form.
French Join us on Mondays from 3:00 - 5:00 pm for a fun way to learn and practice French with activities, games, and songs for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders. Our teacher, Servane Reimer is a French native married to an American with two daughters ages 6 and 8. A snack is provided. Girls on the Run Girls on the Run starts September 14th. This is a great experience for girls age 2nd grade and up as they train to cross the finish line of a 5 K race! Spanish Learn Spanish after school on Mondays and Wednesdays 3:05 – 3:50 pm. Songs, games, stories, and interactive fun! See 2009-2010 schedule. Registration form.
Sports and Fitness Calling all K-5th grade students who enjoy playing sports and games. Athletes and beginners, who would like to have a blast while learning and practicing a variety of sports skills through drills and fun games in a non-competitive environment. Registration form.

Robotics Calling all budding scientists, engineers, and computer wizards! Robotics Club teams will work on a fun project with Lego Mindstorm kits, and learn a little about math, physics, programming and team work along the way. For more information, contact steeleroboticsclub@gmail.com.
Talent Show Steele's Drama instructor, Mr. Miller, hosts auditions for the school-wide talent show which is held in the spring.
DPS Shakespeare Festival The Shakespeare Festival is held in May at the Denver Performing Arts Center Galleria. Every year, Steele sends many troupes to the festival.
Destination ImagiNation (DI) An extracurricular program for any students interested in creative problem-solving as part of a team. Teams may have up to seven members, and must have at least one adult as "Team Manager". Teams may begin organizing in the fall to prepare for a citywide tournament in the spring. Any and all students are welcome to participate.
Activities in the Community for Kids
Jr. Pioneers Basketball (at DU, not Steele) Learn the fundamentals of basketball and how to play like a pioneer! Jr. pioneers fundamental basketball offers four 7-week series throughout the year and is open to kids ages 5-12. Registration Form
Washington Park Cub Scout Pack Get ready for adventure! The Wash Park area Cub Scout pack, for boys in 1st through 5th grade, meets at St. John's Lutheran at 700 S. Franklin. If you have questions or would like further information, please contact Ned Grant at 720-394-7341.
