Dear Steele Community,
DPS Superintendent Cordova has recently shared an update about our return to school. Unfortunately, due to rapidly changing health conditions in our community DPS has made the difficult decision to adjust which students will be in buildings for in-person learning. You can read Superintendent Cordova’s letter here. The changes outlined in the letter are as follows:
- All K-5th in-person students will remain in the building until this Friday, 10/30
- Starting on Monday, 11/2, Kinder-2nd in-person students will remain in person, full time.
- All 3rd-5th grade students will return to remote learning starting Monday, 11/2.
- This change is in effect until at least Thanksgiving. DPS will continue to monitor health conditions and will update families with an exact return date.
We know this decision is hard for both you and your student. We were just getting started. While we regret that we can’t have all our students with us moving forward, we are committed to keeping our students, staff and community safe and healthy. I am confident that following the DPS 5 guidelines we’ve created, and holding tightly to our safety protocols, will keep our students and staff as safe as we possibly can. Our best hope right now is to stay optimistic and realistic.
Although this year continues to present us with challenges, I am comforted to be part of such an amazing community. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate through these challenges.
