A few words from Miss Patty
My goal in the library is to have a place where students and parents can come and enjoy books. I am trying to build a collection that encourages reading, with a mix of classics, new fiction, leveled non-fiction and picture books that support and enhance the teachers’ curriculum. Each class visits the library once a week for 30 minutes to listen to a story and check out books. I encourage students to check out “just right” books but allow them to explore the shelves. You never know what may trigger a life-long passion. The library is a good fit for me because I can share my love of reading with the students.
Miss Patty is a licensed K-6 teacher and taught Spanish at St. Vincent de Paul for two years before she left to stay at home and raise her daughter, adopted from China. Her daughter attended Steele from ECE through 5th grade. Miss Patty started working at Steele in 2007 as a special education Para for 5 years. She has been our school librarian since 2012.
