Hi! My name is Melissa Hughes.

I have worked for Denver Public Schools for 25 years. This is my 3rd year at Steele and I am really excited to loop with another group of kindergarteners.

I am a native of Colorado and grew up in Longmont. I attended DU for both my Bachelor and Master’s degree, and am happy to teach in the same area.

I have been married to my husband for 18 years and we have two children. Our daughter Rowan is 15 and a sophomore at Arapahoe High School in Littleton. Our son Brandon is 13 and is in the 8th grade at Powell Middle School also in Littleton. Both children are avidly involved in sports and we spend most of our time running around to practices and games.

When we have spare time our family enjoys camping, watching movies, and trying new restaurants. We have a 6 year old English Bulldog named Bo whom I’m sure your children will talk about, because I reference him often in class. I love dogs in general!

I am excited to start a new year and look forward to meeting all of you and getting to know you and your children.
